Meera moved the court, seeking directions for registration of a case against Attiqur Rehman, who claims to be her husband. she alleged that Rehman had been threatening her for the last few weeks and that he also attempted her murder. She said her life was in danger, therefore, a case should be registered against Rehman.
The court admitted her application and directed the police to register a case against Rehman.
Also, the judge freed Meera’s three guards after getting them rescued from Defence-A Police Station.
Meera’s brother Ahsan Abbas had filed a habeas corpus petition, alleging that Defence-A police detained the actress’ four guards illegally. He said in his petition that guards Muhammad Ali, Waheed Khan, Mahmood and Shahzad were not wanted to the police in any case. He urged the court to appoint a bailiff for the guards’ recovery.
Bailiff Iqbal Chohan raided Defence-A police station and rescued three guards. However, the bailiff did not find the fourth guard, Shahzad. The bailiff told the court that no case had been registered against the guards. However, Defence-A SHO told the bailiff that Rehman had nominated these guards in the FIR he lodged against Meera. The court set the guards at liberty against surety bonds of Rs50,000 each and directed the SSP investigation to produce Shahzad in court on Sept 14.
